The magnificently detailed artistry evokes the misery and joy that surrounded the death, burial and subsequent resurrection of Jesus. The weeping figure in the background and use of deep greens and reds evoke a sense of gloom and despondency as Christ comes out of the tomb in the foreground. This is marvellously countered by the surprise and joy on Mary’s face as she kneels before the figure of Christ robed in white. The interpretation of the first window (10a) relies on words found in Daniel 12 v 2 while the second (10b) quotes from 1 Corinthians 15 v 20.
