The Eric Liddell Centre, a registered care charity and major Edinburgh community hub, today announced their delight at raising £16,486.02 via the Virtual Kiltwalk. Eight colleagues from the charity formed #TeamLiddell, put their favourite tartan on and completed the walk to raise much-needed funds for the Centre. Their team effort raised £8,243.01, which was topped up by Sir Tom Hunter to £16,486.02.
The total amount raised will be added to their ongoing emergency CoVcare appeal to secure the charity’s future and ongoing service delivery to those in need.
In spite of the uncertain circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Eric Liddell Centre is committed to delivering alternative service arrangements to respond to vulnerable people’s needs during these difficult times.
Since lockdown began, the charity has been on the frontline delivering key services:
The Eric Liddell Centre are working hard to change perceptions of living with dementia, disabilities and mental health issues. They encourage individuals and families to live life to the full, regardless of circumstances and challenges.
Chief Executive of the Eric Liddell Centre, John MacMillan said:
“I am very pleased with the outcome of the Kiltwalk and would like to thank everyone who made a donation to #TeamLiddell. The £16,486.02 raised will allow us to continue making a difference to people’s lives during these difficult times. I am very proud of the team, and thankful to Sir Tom Hunter for arranging the Kiltwalk every year and adding 100% to our and others good causes.”
